Graduated in Hospitality and Tourism from the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS), with a specialization in Strategic Management/Marketing from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and in the Management Development Program from Fundação Dom Cabral (FDC).
As Vice President of Conservation International in Brazil (CI-Brasil), he is responsible for the strategic and programmatic direction of the organization in the country.
His work is based on identifying opportunities and trends to achieve positive impacts for people and nature, with an emphasis on nature-based solutions to mitigate the effects of the climate emergency, as well as for sustainable and equitable development, and building partnerships. Prior to CI-Brasil, Mauricio worked for more than two years at ChildFund Brasil, responsible for the area of communication and resource mobilization. Prior to this experience, he worked for more than 12 years at the telecommunications operator TIM as a corporate communications manager.
