Graduated in Production Engineering from Escola Politécnica da USP, he obtained the titles of Master and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and served as an executive for 22 years, as Director of CICA Alimentos, Vice President of Corporación Bonfiglioli, President of Dako and President of GE Appliances Brazil, and main manager of his own business (America chain of restaurants ). He was Secretary of Production Development at the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade in the second FHC administration.
He was also one of the founders of PNBE – National Thought for Business Bases and of the Ethos Institute of Business and Social Responsibility, of which he is an Associate Curator. He was a member, for 6 years, of the Sustainable Living Plan Council of Unilever Global; for 5 years, from the Council on Sustainable Consumption of the World Economic Forum; and, for 6 years, of the Board of Trustees of Fundação Padre Anchieta (TV and Rádio Cultura).
He is currently a member of the Dow Chemical Global Sustainability External Advisory Council; the Diversity and Sustainability Committee of Grupo Pão de Açúcar; the Multistakeholder Advisory Councils of the CI-SCP (Consumer Information Program) and the SLE-SCP (Sustainable Lifestyles and Education Program) of the United Nations; of the Board of Directors of Fundação OSESP, among other Boards and Committees. He was the creator, one of the founders and is currently the President Director of the Akatu Institute for Conscious Consumption.
